Quadriceps tendonitis is the following situation: the quadriceps tendon becomes inflamed or swollen, causing thigh and knee pain.
Muscle overuse is the major cause. Overusing leg and knee can often damage the quadriceps tendon. In extreme cases, the quadriceps tendon may become ruptured. Athletes are prone to quadriceps tendon injury, due to excessive training or competition.
The common symptoms include: topical burning sensation, topical swelling, knee pain, knee stiffness, leg-bending pain, leg-stretching pain, walking difficulty. The following methods can help to reduce pain and swelling: resting, ice therapy, leg elevation, anti-inflammation medications, surgery.
