Kyphosis is the following situation: the upper back (the thoracic spine) and the neck are abnormally round-shaped, the chin leans forwards. This is also called cervical posture syndrome.
Kyphosis symptoms usually include: upper back or neck discomfort, burning or aching sensation, prolonged standing pain, prolonged sitting pain, back pain, muscle fatigue, back stiffness, chest pain, breath shortness.
The common causes include: muscle imbalance (the upper back and neck), tight neck muscles, upper back muscle strain, vertebrae deformity, osteoporosis, ankylosing spondylitis, spine infection, spine tumors. Massage, physical therapy and surgery are the usual treatment options.
