Achilles pain is often due to achilles tendonitis. Tendonitis makes the achilles tendon inflamed, and thus causes the heel pain.
Shearing stress, stretching force, calf muscle strain or tendon inflammation often lead to achilles pain. Besides, the following factors may also cause achilles pain: excessive hill running, improper heel cushioning, unfit shoes. The common symptom is: increased activity tend to make achilles pain worsen.
To alleviate the achilles pain, excessive training should be avoided. Avoid flat shoes and try not to walk bare foot. Proper insole can help to speed up recovery. As for achilles tendon rupture, surgery will be needed.
