Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia is the following situation: the metatarsal region becomes inflamed, causing foot discomfort or pain. This usually affects the first and second metatarsals.

The causes usually include: excessive foot pressure, excessive training, improper footwear, high foot arch, hammer toe, obesity, foot injury. If left untreated, this may lead to lower back pain or other complications.

The common symptoms include: foot pain, toe pain, toe numbness, walking difficulty. The following methods can often reduce the pain: resting, ice therapy, proper footwear, shock-absorbing insole, foot arch supporting, anti-inflammation medications, foot surgery.
